LAST MINUTE VICTORY FOR ENGLAND

The 38th game of this Hockeyworldcup was between Pakistan and England for the 5th place.

Both teams started with an aggressive fore-checking, but England had the better start with two short corners and more ball possession. After Pakistan managed to get into their game, they increased their confidence and had their chances to take the lead.

The English missed three corners in the first half. Pakistan had to deal with a yellow card, Maqsood got a five minute penalty.

The second half was like the first half, an open match. Chances on both sides, mainly through Zubair for Pakistan or a couple of unused English corners. England could only take advantage of the game, after the Pakistani Abbasi saw a yellow card for a stick tackle in the 60th minute. Tindall won the Ball against Saqlain, passed to Jones who only had top push the ball into the empty goal, 1:0 England in the 67th minute.

Not much happened in the remaining two minutes. England was the better side and deserved to win this match.
